Dreams--or "sleep stories," as these talking dinosaurs dub them--inspire Little Foot and his grandparents to begin a journey to see a climactic event in the 10th installment of this consistently high-quality series. Along the way, they discover that other longnecks have been having similar dreams, thus providing the opportunity for guest voices (Bernadette Peters as "Sue" and James Garner as "Pat") and Little Foot's reunion with his long-lost father (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland). In a subplot, Little Foot's other dino friends decide to follow him, but this story really belongs to the young longneck. He gets to view a solar eclipse--and take credit for saving his species--but has to make a decision between traveling with his newfound dad and returning with the grandparents who raised him. It's a tough decision for a little one, but children who have gone through divorce will identify. (Ages 2 to 7) --Kimberly Heinrichs

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful Movie   December 3, 2003

I have collected all of the DVD's in this series and when this new one came out i pre-ordered it and recieved it today. By far this the one of the best. Little foot finally finds his long lost father(who was looking for him all this time) he never knew he had he gets a father and also a adopted brother Shorty, and has to make a decision to leave his friends and grandparents to be with his father. This was a very sad part of the movie. The song at the end of the movie that Littlefoot's friends Ducky, Cera, Petrie and of course Spike sing Bestest of Friends is so sad, I actually almost cried. This movie really shows true friendship. I highly recommend it to old and young.

5 out of 5 stars Wholesome fun for kids and a lesson for parents!   January 18, 2004

Like all the movies in this series, The Great Longneck Migration is another fine installment. Of couse, none of the sequels could equal the first theatrical release, but all of them have been very enjoyable for my two sons and have provided important lessons for me and my wife as we try to be as good at parenting as Littlefoot's grandparents. One reviewer didn't like the fact that both Littlefoot's long lost father and his grandparents allowed Littlefoot to decide with whom he would live. In real life, of course, they would have fought over his custody in court and perhaps even outside of it for months or years with Littlefoot having to split time between them with no real home. If only so-called adults could act as mature and loving as fictional dinosaurs in doing what made the child happy. This movie, like all the others in the series, teaches the real meaning of friendship and love while being immensely entertaining. The nitpicking comlaints one reviewer had about voices and whatever went totally unnoticed in our household despite repeated viewings. I highly recommend it but more importantly, my boys loved it.

5 out of 5 stars Littlefoot Returns....   January 20, 2004

Ahhh yes, the Land Before Time saga will never seem to cease. But I have to admit, this latest movie had me and my sis clapping, singing, and jumping along with Littlefoot and his friends!! In The Land Before Time:The Great Longneck Migration, longnecks all around the world (including Littlefoot and his grandparents) are having similar "sleep-stories". So they set off to supposedly "save the world". Alas, it turns out to be a solar eclipse, which was a beautiful scene in my opinion. Our hero finally finds his father, Bron (who sounds alot like HAL the computer in "2001:A Space Odysey"). Overall, it's a very heart-warming, sweet little story. And don't worry, no dinosaurs where harmed in the making of this video.

The storyline of this video is wonderful. Our 3-year-old grandson loves it. It involves many different 'life' realities; friendships, grandparent adoptions, problem solving and much, much more! We see these things through the happenings of animated talking dinosaurs and my grandson loves dinosaurs!

5 out of 5 stars A Great Movie   December 14, 2003

Dictated to his father:

The first episode of Land Before Time (which isn't really an episode at all because they didn't know they'd make episodes) was great. Episode 10 is as good as the first uno (that's episode one in Spanish). It was as great as the Secret of Saurus Rock. I liked the solar eclipse, when the moon went in front of the sun and the dinosaurs thought that the sun was going to fall. In fact, they thought they saved the world, which wasn't really true because if the sun did really fall everything would have melted into a giant ball of gas and then a black hole and then eventually another star. Giant balls of gas can melt anything.

Littefoot meets his father when they find a giant crater, which some watchers may believe is Crater Lake in Oregon - which is a volcano that collapsed and got flooded!

I hope that you also enjoy the movie. Goodbye.
